Car rental companies say most of the demand is for luxury sedans and compact SUVs. Most of these services are available at the click of a button. In the US, there are about two million cars in the self-drive segment. India still has a long way to go, but with such easy access and cost savings, someone who earns even Rs.50,000 a month can give wing to his or her dream of driving around in a BMW.
An official of the Toyota Company said: “We give safety feature in all brands if the customer demands but it costs a little higher price.” He said the company sales have gone up to 20,227 units in last four months compared to 14,287 units in the same period last year. In October it sold 5,460 units.”
Any of the cars produced in Pakistan will not pass safety tests in most parts of the Developed World. Not having airbags, is unheard of and unimaginable. No ABS, crappy seat belts, no Crumple Zones. In fact, from the body strength to the parts used in the vehicles, will not pass any Quality Control checks. This is all part of the extreme lack of governance in all aspects of our society. The relevant authorities neither demand compliance with international standards nor check / test the quality of products. They, in fact, feel indebted to these companies for producing locally. It really doesn’t matter what they produce, at what cost and sell it at what price. If it is critical to produce locally, then impose strong Quality Controls. Alternatively, let people buy from the international market and earn taxes from that, while the people get good quality stuff at competitive prices. How difficult could that be to understand / implement?
Where the D3 really scores is in its ability to be almost two cars in one. With the gearbox left to its own devices and dynamic performance control set to Eco-Pro mode, the D3 is an effortless mile-muncher. Despite four exhaust tips, the engine remains subdued as the automatic gearbox shuffles up to the higher ratios as quickly as it can. In the real world, 42mpg on a variety of roads wasn’t too hard to achieve.
That retention is one of the — “if not the — highest recorded among non-collectible models” tracked by the company over the last decade, said NADA Used Car Guide analyst Larry Dixon. It’s also way ahead of the nearest competitor, the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport, in the same three-month period. That vehicle, typically equipped, had an average trade-in value of $18,413 or 68.1 percent of sticker.
Still in development are a performance kit and a modified exhaust system. The BMW X6 M is a massive 567 horsepower monster, which makes its power from a 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. That engine, or Atom Bomb, is mated to an eight-speed ZF transmission and powers all four wheels, via BMW’s xDrive. This gives the X6 M a 0-60 mph time of 4.0 seconds, making it one of the fastest BMWs on the market and only about a tenth shy of the famous BMW M3.
Safety has been a strong point for the Venza; it’s earned top five-star and good ratings, comes with all the safety features afforded by other vehicles in its class, and doesn’t make the sacrifices in outward visibility that so many other curvaceous crossover vehicles do. Feature content is also quite impressive, with only a single trim offered, getting standard dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and a tilt/telescope steering wheel with audio controls. More desirable options include a JBL sound system, backseat DVD entertainment, power liftgate, and Smart Key system. The Venza hasn’t had any significant changes since launch, though a USB port with iPod connectivity has been made standard, along with hands-free Bluetooth connectivity.

A handful of parts such as such as brakes, wheels and tyres are allowed outside the cap, which is policed quite loosely. We spotted oversized brakes pinched from racecars and Mercedes-AMG performance machines that would cost well more than $1000 alone, and some of the teams were running cars that looked mighty close to the $1000 cap. A tidy 1990s Subaru WRX wagon looked pretty decent, as did a Honda Prelude VTi-R coupe of similar vintage.
The exterior of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 gets a new hexagonal grille, LED headlamps, restyled tail-lights and redesigned alloy wheels. In fact, the SUV looks even more imposing now with elevated horizontal character lines, the new three-slat grill and chrome garnish that extends horizontally across the LED headlamps. There are a few changes in the feature list as well, which include a new steering wheel with heater, tyre pressure monitoring system, a larger and more advanced 4.2-inch audio-video infotainment system, enhanced multi-terrain monitor cameras and LED illuminated entry system, among other goodies. How much use a heated steering wheel has though, with respect to India’s climatic conditions, is anybody’s guess.
